****We recommend most 7 year olds (league age, not actual age) do not play in Rookie. That said, every year there are some exceptionally gifted 7 year olds who would benefit with playing up with 8 & 9 yr olds. Ultimately, it's the parents decision****
Rookie is the first competitive division at DRLL and is for players age 7 - 9 who want continue to learn the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, fielding, sportsmanship and teamwork in a fun, low-key environment. At this division, we use a normal baseball. This is the first division that introduces kid pitching. Players will pitch the first two innings of every game; then machines are used for remaining innings. In Rookies, players are primarily focused on skill development. This is the first division to introduce keeping score. Standings are also tracked at this level.
